Dr. Rachel Ting currently is an associate professor at China University of Political Science and Law, School of Sociology (Beijing). She is teaching both psychology and social work courses to undergraduate and graduate students. She is also a licensed psychologist and eligible clinical supervisor in California, and an adjunct faculty at Fuller Theological Seminary-Graduate School of Psychology (USA). She has been providing training on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in various mental health institutes in China (Shanghai, Wuhan, ShenZhen and Chengdu). She has a private practice in Beijing (www.51brave.com) and been helping individuals and families to overcome difficult issues. Besides, she has been actively involved in the disaster relief in Qinghai and Sichuan in the past three years.

Originally from Malaysia (Sarawak), she was employed as a senior lecturer at HELP University College of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 2008-2010, where she taught, supervised and advised Master degree students from both counseling and clinical psychology program. Prior to this, she worked as a post-doctoral psychologist at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA, where she conducted individual and group therapy with university students, psychoeducational assessment with disabled students, supervising and training master level counselors. Dr. Ting has a wide range of clinical expertise and experiences including depression, grief, trauma, relational problems, ADHD, Learning Disability, religious and spiritual issues, and multiculturalism. Her clinical orientation is an integration of humanistic approach and interpersonal theory with time-limited focus (e.g. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy).

Dr. Ting holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan, a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College (APA accredited), Illinois, USA, a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary USA, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology (APA accredited). She finished both her graduate internship at University of California, San Diego, which is accredited by American Psychology Association. After graduating from her doctoral program, she stayed at her alma mater for 2 year as a Research Assistant Professor, teaching doctoral-level courses. She is also a grant recipent of Templeton Foundation (2010-2012), on a collaborative project with Fuller Theological seminary, to develop psychology of religion in China.

In her academic work, Dr. Ting has published four articles at SSCI peer-review journal (“Journal of Psychology and Theology”, “Pastoral Psychology) in the past. She has published two books-- “Sunset and Wilderness: Love and suffering in the therapy room,” and “Who am I talking to? The self and emotional expression in bilingual Chinese.” Dr. Ting is proficient in Mandarin, Foochow, and English. She is also a regular column writer for the SinChew Daily and GuangHwa newspapers. She also presented about 20 papers in multiple international conferences, including APA annual convention. Dr. Ting has been a full member of the American Psychology Association (APA), the Asian American Psychology Association (AAPA), the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology, and Psychiatric Association (MPA). Her recent research area is indigenous psychology within Asian contexts, depression, and spirituality in psychotherapy.
